ABOUT

TAHIRAH YASIN KHAN
Counsellor and Psychotherapist in London and Gloucestershire
I’m an accredited psychotherapist, BACP accredited BABCP CBT therapist, EMDR and recovery coach, and clinical supervisor. I’m also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), offering a trauma-informed, neuroaffirmative, and culturally sensitive approach to therapy.
With a BA (Hons) in History and a postgraduate degree in Neuroscience and Education from the University of Bristol, I integrate psychological insight with a deep understanding of how the brain, learning, and environment shape our emotional worlds. I am also ADOS-2 trained, which supports my work with neurodivergent clients, particularly those exploring autism.
Before qualifying as a therapist, I worked extensively with asylum seekers, refugees, and survivors of domestic and sexual abuse. These early roles continue to shape my practice today grounded in compassion, cultural humility, and a commitment to social justice.
I work in both English and Urdu, creating a space where clients can express themselves in the language they feel most at home. Faith, identity, and meaning-making are core themes in my work. I honour the role of belief systems in mental health and create room for the spiritual, the sacred, and the personal in the therapeutic process.
My work is fully insured, DBS cleared, and aligned with BACP’s ethical framework. I engage in regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development to ensure safe, effective, and reflective practice.
Whether you're navigating trauma, burnout, identity, or neurodivergence, my aim is to offer you a space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow—at your own pace, and in your own way.
I am a fully qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist, accredited member of the
British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and a member of the Muslim Counsellors and Psychotherapists Network (MCAPN). I adhere to the ethical framework of the BACP by holding full professional insurance, an enhanced DBS clearance and being committed to continual professional development and regular supervision.
I am committed to offering a service which is welcoming to all backgrounds, races, religions and cultures in a supportive, inclusive and non-discriminatory manner. I am especially interested in spiritual issues, how we attach meaning to our lives and how our beliefs and faith impact the issues we face.
I can offer counselling sessions in English or Urdu, giving you the flexibility to choose the language you are most comfortable with expressing yourself.
COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY SESSIONS
Most of my work is long-term and open-ended. This means that therapy will progress for as long as we both feel necessary for you.
From my experience, it takes time and willingness to get to the core of the issue.

Therapy is a process leading to real change and deep transformation
I work with empathy, unconditional positive regard and genuineness as the foundation of my therapy. My work is grounded in humanistic and integrative theories and I use a holistic and creative approach.
My belief is that we all have the resources within us to realise our own potential. The way I work is unique to each client and tailored to your individual needs.
