Clinical Supervision

Why choose me as your supervisor?
I've always experienced supervision as a place of real support for my clinical practice: somewhere I can reflect openly and honestly about my work, seek ethical and professional guidance, feel challenged to grow, and continue to learn.
My aim as a supervisor is to provide a shame-free, reflective space for you to bring whatever might be going on for you in your work, to champion you, and bring gentle challenge to shine a light on any growth edges you may have.

How do I work as a supervisor?
The 7-eyed model
My training was with Robin Shohet and Joan Wilmot. Robin developed the 7-eyed model of supervision with Peter Hawkins.
This is a multi-faceted model of supervision aimed at learning, growth, and reflection which takes into account amongst others:
The relationship between you and your client;
The relationship between us;
Interventions used in with your client;
The wider context e.g. cultural and societal influences

CBT Assessments
What is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy?
CBT is an established form of counselling / psychotherapy which aims to help the client to identify unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour, and discover new more helpful ways of thinking and behaving.
CBT is a well researched area of therapy and has been evaluated by the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) as an effective form of treatment for specific problem areas experienced by clients.
Arranging an Assessment Session
An Assessment session is usually held as a first step to explore whether this approach may be helpful to you.
Subsequent sessions of CBT (usually one hour) will be dependent upon the nature of your difficulties as to the number of sessions you will require. It is likely that undertaking some work in between your sessions to help you achieve your aims will be recommended and this can be discussed with me during your assessment.

EMDR
What is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a structured and evidence-based approach to psychotherapy that helps people recover from the emotional distress and psychological impact of difficult or traumatic experiences. It works by using bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, sounds, or tapping, to help the brain process memories that have become “stuck” and continue to cause distress. EMDR enables these memories to be reprocessed so they can be integrated in a healthier way, reducing emotional intensity and promoting healing. It is recognised by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as an effective treatment for trauma and post-traumatic stress.
Arranging an Assessment Session
An assessment session is the first step to explore whether EMDR therapy is suitable for you and to gain an understanding of your current difficulties and goals. During this session, we will discuss your background, what you hope to achieve, and whether EMDR is the most appropriate approach for your needs. The number of sessions required will depend on the nature of your experiences and the pace that feels right for you. EMDR sessions usually last between 60–90 minutes and may include some reflective or grounding exercises to support the work between sessions.
