Information for clients
TYKHAN International: Terms, Ethics & Client Care
At TYKHAN, we believe in creating a safe, transparent, and supportive space for all our clients. Below you’ll find a clear summary of how we work, what you can expect, and how your privacy is protected.
🔒 Your Privacy & Confidentiality
Everything you share with us stays private. Confidentiality is central to building trust in therapy. We only break confidentiality if:
-
There is serious risk to your life or someone else’s
-
We are legally required to do so by a court
We will always aim to speak with you before taking any such action.
We store your data securely and only collect what is needed to support your therapy. You have the right to request or delete your data at any time. Please see our full Data and Confidentiality Policy for more details.
✅ Our Code of Ethics
We adhere to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) code of ethics. Tahirah is an accredited member of the BACP.
This means we:
-
Prioritise your autonomy and safety
-
Work with cultural competence and anti-discrimination principles
-
Commit to ongoing professional development
We strongly value difference and do not discriminate based on age, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, race, nationality, disability, or belief system.
🗓️ Appointments & Cancellations
We ask for 7 days’ notice if you need to cancel a session.
If less notice is given or a session is missed, the full fee will still apply. We understand life happens, and will always try to reschedule if possible. Invoices are sent retrospectively and we ask that they are settled within 7 days.
👥 Working With Others
We may occasionally refer clients to associate practitioners or other professionals (e.g., nutritionists, body-based therapists, coaches). All are qualified and work independently, with their own terms and conditions.
If you are referred, we encourage you to ask questions and review their approach and policies. TYKHAN is not responsible for external practitioner services once referred.
🔧 Record Keeping & Data Protection
We only record what is necessary to support your care:
-
Contact details
-
Session dates and payment records
-
Minimal session notes (kept securely, never shared)
Your notes may be handwritten and locked securely, or stored digitally in a password-protected account.
We do not share your information with third parties without your written consent, unless legally or ethically required.
If a serious incident were to occur (e.g., data breach or therapist incapacity), a nominated colleague would contact you as part of ethical protocol.
🔐 Access to Records
You have the right to:
-
Request access to your notes
-
Withdraw consent at any time
-
Ask for data to be deleted ("right to be forgotten")
Just get in touch and we’ll talk you through the process.
💼 Questions?
We want you to feel informed and empowered. If you have any concerns about your therapy, practitioner, data, or referral, we welcome open communication.
You can also download our full Terms & Guidelines document [here] or request a printed version at any time.
